Stacy Feinbloom and Jessica Navarro are rappelling in the memory of their brother and friend, Kevin Feinbloom. Kevin had acid reflux for as long as he could remember. At age 47, Kevin took a trip with his wife, son and daughter to Hawaii for 10 days. While he was in Hawaii he was having trouble swallowing his food. Upon his return home, he went to a new doctor. The doctor ordered an Endoscopy where within 24 hours Kevin was diagnosed with stage IV esophageal cancer that had metastasized.

Kevin, a sports fanatic took the approach of the underdog in a game and was determined to “upset” this cancer. It was soon discovered the cancer had spread to his liver and Kevin just added this to the fight. He went to an Oncologist who put him on an extremely aggressive chemotherapy treatment to attack the cancer. Kevin saw positive results during the following scans. He was diagnosed in August of 2013 and in November of 2013, Kevin put his cancer to a positive use. He was an avid tennis player his whole life, and with the help of his friends and family, he started a foundation to help children in Ventura County, CA who had cancer. This foundation gave Kevin a renewed purpose and now he was not only fighting to maintain his own life, but also for many children he didn’t even know in Ventura County who were also fighting this horrific disease. The money raised was going to a camp for children with cancer founded by tennis great Andrea Yeager. His foundation was called, F.I.T.S., Fans in the Stands! He hosted a tennis tournament along with entertainment and raised over $70,000 dollars to help provide a “day in the sun” for many children in the pediatric cancer wings of Ventura County hospitals. Kevin believed more awful than his own cancer, were the children who were battling this awful disease.

In February of 2014, Kevin’s tumor in his esophagus had shrunk enough where the doctors believed they could surgically remove the tumor and thus leave Kevin cancer free. The cancer in his liver had previously died. Kevin was informed he was cancer free shortly after the surgery. This happiness only lasted a short while as the cancer came back with a vengeance.

More cancerous tumors developed in his esophagus and eventually the cancer spread to his brain. Kevin fought until the bitter end. He lost his life on February 12, 2015.

He leaves behind the love of his life, his wife Lisa, his beautiful children Cole 18 and Julia 15. Kevin left us surrounded by his friends, family and anyone whose life he touched. More than anything else, Kevin’s passion for life and sense of humor will continue to be an inspiration to all the lives he touched.

Stacy and Jessica will continue to fight Kevin’s fight against this horrible disease and his foundation FITS will continue to honor what he started.
